Struvite Dissolution: It allows an effective dissolution of struvite stones in the dog. Urinary acidification is unfavourable to bacterial development, often responsible for this type of calculus.
Low RSS: Undersaturated urine is an environment where crystals cannot proliferate. Urinary sub-saturation creates unfavourable conditions for the development of struvite crystals and calcium oxalate.
Urine Dilution: Urine dilution reduces the concentration of struvite and calcium oxalate in the urine. The increase in urinary volume also favours a regular emptying of the bladder.
Tartar Control: Sodium polyphosphate binds to salivary calcium, making it unavailable for the formation of tartar.
Low Magnesium: Magnesium is a component of struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) uroliths. Reduced level of magnesium, a natural component of struvite crystals.
